Monticello is in the running to win a series of 10 free concerts to be held at McCloy Park next year for 10 weeks in a row, and the only thing residents have to do to help the city win is cast an Internet vote.

The Seark Concert Association is pursuing the concerts, which are offered by the Levitt AMP Music Series. The concert series was created in 2014 by Levitt Pavilions, a pioneer in the creative placemaking movement and the national nonprofit organization behind the largest free outdoor concert series in America.

Levitt AMP brings the joy of free, live music to people of all ages and backgrounds living in small to mid-sized towns and cities.

Voting began November 2 and continues through November 30. The top 15 vote-getters will receive funding to put on the concerts. Winners will be announced on January 5, 2016. Every individual e-mail address can vote one time, so supporters are encouraged to vote from all of their accounts.

To vote, go to concerts.levittamp.org and follow the steps to sign up. Voters will almost instantly receive an e-mail containing a link to activate their account, and can use it to log in and vote with the username and password that they just created. The Seark Concert Association proposal is included on the list of 2016 proposals, which can be sorted by top votes, in alphabetical order, or by state.

“We’d like to encourage everyone with an e-mail address – and all their friends and relatives – to vote for Seark,” said Susan Akin, president of the organization. “This would be a tremendous program for our area, and it’s such a great opportunity for us. Please vote and help us spread the word so that others can get involved in the process. Thank you as always for your support of the arts in Southeast Arkansas.”
