Cane Creek State Park in Lincoln County will host a kayak tour this week during the annual Perseid Meteor Shower.

“Every year in August, we get to see a gorgeous scene painted by meteors falling from the constellation Perseus and we call it the Perseid Meteor Shower,” said Seth Boone, Cane Creek Park Interpreter. “This year is no different as the peak for the meteor shower is on August 14th. This is an excellent opportunity for you and your family to see these ‘shooting stars’ and to top it off, the shower is going to be in line with the New Moon. This means that there will be very little to no light pollution, making for an optimal viewing experience. This opportunity is made even more unique by the fact that you are floating on the edge of two totally different worlds. On one side the Gulf Coastal Plain, and on the other the Mississippi Alluvial Delta. Join us at Cane Creek State Park for a different way to view this magnificent event, from the comfort of your own kayak.”

No experience is required for the 2-hour, guided tour. Life jackets, kayaks, and paddles are provided. Space is limited, so call (870) 628-4714 to make your reservation today. The price is $15 for adults, and $10 for children (ages 10-12).
