The Greater Shady Grove AME Church will host two major events this fall — “An Evening of Elegance” and a “Dedication Ceremony” — celebrating and reflecting upon the church’s accomplishments.
On September 25 at 6 p.m., the church will present “An Evening of Elegance”, a formal event which will be held at the Gibson University Center on the University of Arkansas campus.
“There are several programs hosted throughout the year at Greater Shady Grove AME Church, and a slide show will be presented to show numerous pictures and flyers, conveying the moments of service not only to our church, but to the community of Wilmar and the surrounding communities,” said Kirby Merritt, a member of the church. “There will also be singing and tributes that will be presented during the event. In addition, the Evening of Elegance will also be the night where we will show our appreciation to our pastor, Rev. Alonzo Redic, III, and his family.”
On Sunday, October 4 at 6 p.m., the church will host a special service dedicating the church’s new stained glass windows.
“The Greater Shady Grove AME Church had several beautiful stained glass windows that were installed over the early summer months and those stained glass windows will be dedicated at the service,” Merritt said.
The guest speaker at the dedication service will be Bishop Samuel L. Green, Sr., presiding prelate of the 12th Episcopal District.
The church is located at 325 South 7th Street in Wilmar.
