Former University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball player Sharif Hudson has signed with the BG Aschersleben Tigers for the 2015-16 season.
BG Aschersleben finished third in the Regionalliga North Division standings last year with a record of 18-4.
Hudson recently graduated from UAM with bachelor’s degree in business administration and culminated his two-year playing career with the Weevils in 2014-15. He earned All-Great American Conference honors after ranking seventh in the league in scoring (15.4 points per game), 12th in rebounding (6.8 per game) and third in steals (1.6 per game) this past season as a senior.
The Pensacola, Florida native is a two-time selection to the GAC All-Academic Team and was also nominated for the All-State Good Works Team.
“I made a good decision to come to UAM,” said Hudson. “I graduated and had a good two-year career, which helped me have this opportunity to play professionally. I feel my game really elevated this year thanks to guidance from Coach (Kyle) Tolin and Coach (Micheal Cyprien). There’s a lot of people I want to thank from UAM for helping me succeed through college with my academics and of course my coaches for helping me succeed on the court.”
“We are very proud of Sharif for signing a professional contract with BG Aschersleben,” said UAM Head Coach Kyle Tolin. “He has worked very hard over the past two years and deserves this opportunity. He always represented UAM on and off the court in the right way, and I know he will do the same with his new team.”
Hudson becomes the 20th professional to play under Tolin during his time as an assistant coach at Oklahoma Baptist and now entering his second year as head coach for the Weevils.
