Shelby Jean Wells Lair, 76, of Monticello, passed away on October 31, 2014 at Drew Memorial Hospital.
She retired from the Crossett Police Department as a dispatcher and worked as a bookkeeper at Newman Fixtures in Monticello for many years. She was a member of Wilmar Baptist Church.
Mrs. Lair was born on August 29, 1938 at Strong and was the daughter of the late Albert E. and Artis Frisby Wells. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Artis Tean Kemp.
Survivors include a son, Hal Courtney of Monticello; a daughter, Rosalind Goodwin (Wesley) of Petal, Mississippi; a sister, Nancy Smith (Gary) of Crossett; two grandchildren, Jennifer Freeman and Courtney Goodwin; three great grandchildren, Joshua, Jenna and Jordan Freeman, all of Petal, Mississippi; nieces, Sharon Kemp Dockery, Carla Gayle Kemp and Holly Louise Pill.
Graveside services will be held on November 2 at 2 p.m. at Pinewood Memorial Park with Bro. Wally Ferguson officiating. Arrangements under the direction of Jones Funeral Home of Crossett.
