Shirley Claudell McClain Haskew, 90 of Monticello, passed away on July 5, 2016 at Grand Manor Assisted Living in Monticello.
She was a retired 6th grade teacher at the Monticello School District, a member of the Lacey United Methodist Church and the widow of Ralph C. Haskew, Sr.
Mrs. Haskew was a “pink lady” with the Drew Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for 30 years and voluntarily knitted more than 2,000 caps for newborn babies. She also loved playing bridge and bingo with her friends.
She was born November 29, 1925 in Drew County to the late Charlie L. McClain and Tommie Gardner McClain.
Survivors include her daughter, Patricia Haskew Armour of Georgetown, Texas; a sister, Audrey Stephenson of Crossett; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Ralph C. Haskew, II; two brothers, Charles and James McClain; and a sister, Joan Burch.
Funeral services will be held on July 8 at 2 p.m. at the Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with Rev. Don Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. preceding the funeral service.
