Shirley Jean Hogue Appleberry, 84, passed away on August 25, 2019.
She attended Tillar United Methodist Church, was a housewife, ran errands for the farm she so loved, was employed by Morgan Lindsay Five and Dime in McGehee and a telephone operator for Southwestern in Star City, and was the matriarch of the family.
Mrs. Appleberry was born on August 14,1935 in Banks to the late DJ and Mable Eleanor Haven Hogue.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Minter Appleberry; a sister, Carylon Laster; and a great-grandchild, Ridley Morris.
She is survived by a son, Frank Appleberry (Judy) of Tillar; a daughter, Patricia (Patty) Morris (Phillip) of Tillar; a sister, Bessie Mencer of Dermott; four grandchildren that were the highlight of her life, Jacob Appleberry (Carrie) of McGehee, Jessica Morris of Tillar, Kinnsey Appleberry-Hill (Shawn) of Tillar, and Chad Morris (Kelsie) of Tillar; five great-grandchildren, Anistyn Morris, Easton Morris, Isabella Morris, Grace Appleberry and soon to arrive, Watson Morris.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 28 from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Tillar United Methodist Church in Tillar. A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at the Tillar Cemetery with Rev. Tandy Hanson and Rev. Buddy Ratliff officiating.
