Two sisters married to two brothers delivered babies two hours apart Monday morning at Drew Memorial Health System, doubly blessing two sets of grandparents.

Sisters Emily McKee and Laura McKee delivered their daughters just yards away from one another, supported by their husbands, Wade McKee and Justin McKee.

Sadie Ann McKee, the daughter of Emily and Wade McKee of Fordyce, was born on July 31 at 7:30 a.m.

Just two minutes shy of two hours later, at 9:28 a.m. Cheyenne Paige McKee, the daughter of Laura and Justin McKee, also of Fordyce, was born, making her the second granddaughter born on July 31 to not one, but both sets of grandparents.

Both babies were delivered by Dr. Kelly Shrum.

“We didn’t realize at first that (Dr. Shrum) gave our wives the same due date, but we were even more surprised to hear we had scheduled their deliveries on the same day,” said Justin McKee.

If there is any question about whether these McKee cousins will grow up with a close relationship, it seems likely. “Did I mention we live next door to each other?” said Wade McKee.

The proud grandparents are Rita and David McKee, Lorrie Sorrells, and James Jackson Jr.
