The former father-in-law of an Ashley County native serving in the military says the military could have done more to prevent Sgt. Kevin Moseby‘s death. Sgt. Moseby, 28, of Fayetteville, N.C., formerly Parkdale, was fatally shot during a domestic dispute last week and a fellow soldier, Duane Brown, Jr. has been charged with his death.
Moseby is the second Ashley County native serving in the military who has been killed in a domestic altercation in less than a month.
Moseby’s former father-in-law Robert Settle told a North Carolina television reporter that the two men had been fighting for some time over his daughter, Sgt. Dorothy Curtis, who had decided to rekindle her relationship with Moseby, her ex-husband.
Settle said military leadership had taken the two sergeants’ personal handguns but subsequently returned Brown’s guns.
