A 31-year-old Desha County man has been arrested in connection with his mother’s death.
Bonnie Thomas’ traumatized body was discovered Friday night at her home near Kelso after she failed to show up for work at the McGehee Hospital.
Desha County deputy Emma Montgomery, responding to a welfare check requested by the hospital, discovered the 57-year-old woman’s body at her home on Cooks Ramp Road. She was found lying on the floor with signs of trauma to her body and was deceased.
Statements and evidence collected at the home led to the arrest of Thomas’ son, Kevin Thomas.
Kevin Thomas is being held at the McGehee City Jail on suspicion of first-degree murder. He is awaiting a first appearance hearing before Circuit Judge Sam Pope.
The homicide is still under investigation and the body has been sent to the State Crime Lab for an autopsy.
