Star City High School 2016 graduate Emily Patrick will receive an all-expenses paid trip to New York City for being the state grand prize winner of the Arkansas Art Educators Youth Art Month Flag Design Contest. Emily and her mother Jennifer (right) display her winning flag.

Emily Patrick, a recent graduate of Star City High School, will receive an all-expenses paid trip to New York City for being the state grand prize winner of the Arkansas Art Educators Youth Art Month Flag Design Contest.

Patrick will be recognized along with the grand prize winners of the Youth Art Month Flag Design Contests from other states.

The all-expenses paid trip is sponsored by Sargent Art, a national art supply company. It includes a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Rockefeller Center, Museum of Modern Art, Times Square, a Broadway show, the Statue of Liberty, the Financial District, Wall Street, the 9/11 Memorial, and other sites for Patrick, her mother and her art teacher.

Patrick’s design was made into a flag that was on display at the Old State House during Youth Art Month in March,It had previously been displayed at the National Art Educators conference in Chicago during March.

Other Youth Art Month Flag Design Contest winners from Star City High School include Dakota Hogue, the first place winner in the 9th–12th grade division and Courtney Malone, a second place winner in the 9th–12th grade division. Hogue is a junor. Malone is a sophomore.

Star City High School students are under the instruction of art teacher Roger Darren High.
