Five Star City School District students have placed in the 2021 Arkansas Art Educators Youth Art Month Flag Design Contest.

Youth Art Month is celebrated each month to encourage support for quality school art programs.

Star City High School freshman Jaden McCool won grand prize. Jaden’s design, pictured above, will be made into an actual flag that will be displayed to represent Arkansas at various art education events throughout the country.

Jaden is the third state Grand Prize Winner from SCHS in six years. Previous winners were Emily Patrick in 2016 and Alexia Lams in 2020.

Junior Eliany Garcia won 1st place in the high school division. Eliany is the 4th student from SCHS in six years to win 1st place in the high school division. Previous winners were Dakota Hogue in 2016, Alexia Lams in 2019, and Amanda Magana in 2020.

Freshman Avery Oretga won 2nd place in the middle school division.

Freshman Jazzy Ebbert won 3rd place in the middle level division.

Junior Maci Poe won 3rd place in the high school division.

The students are under the instruction of Roger Darren High.
