[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Hayson Lane, a sixth grade student at Star City Middle School and Madison Brown, a freshman at Star City High School, each won first place in their grade level division at the 2014 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show held recently at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.
The event was sponsored by the Arkansas Art Educators Association.
Lane and Brown will both have their artwork included in the state Arkansas Art Educators art exhibit in Little Rock from June 13 until August 31 at the Arkansas Studies Institute in the Butler Center Main Gallery located in the River Market District at 401 President Clinton Avenue in Little Rock.
An awards ceremony will be held on June 13. The ceremony for kindergarten through sixth grade award winners will be from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. and awards for high school freshmen through seniors will be held from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m.
Lane is under the instruction of Star City Middle School art teacher Jill Moore, while Brown is under the instruction of Star City High School art teacher Roger Darren High.
The 2014 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show included artwork from students in Jefferson, Cleveland, Lincoln, Desha, Calhoun, Drew, Bradley, Union, Ashley, and Chicot counties.
The exhibit included original works of art created by thirty Star City School District students from Jimmy Brown Elementary School, Star City Middle School, and Star City High School.
