Thirty Star City School District students from Jimmy Brown Elementary School, Star City Middle School, and Star City High School have their artwork included in the 2016 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show at the University of Arkansas at Monticello sponsored by the Arkansas Art Educators Association. Their art is pictured below.

The exhibit will be on display in the Spencer Gallery at the Fine Arts Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello from March 10 until April 3. A reception and awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, April 3 at 2 pm. The public is invited to attend.

Jimmy Brown Elementary School students with artwork included in the exhibit include: Peyton Hall, kindergarten; Katelynn Myers, kindergarten; Kegan Steinman, 1st grade; Terence Loudermilk, 1st grade; Alston Hall, 2nd grade; Millissiee Wilson, 3rd grade; Kaylea O’Bryant, 4th grade; Shevi Jett, 4th grade; Haley Robinson, 5th grade; and Dillon McBryde, 5th grade. The Jimmy Brown Elementary School students are under the instruction of art teacher Suzi Davis.

 

Star City Middle School students with artwork in the exhibit include: Aidan Jackson, 6th grade; Regan Elrod, 6th grade; Holly McCool, 6th grade; Parker Phillips, 6th grade; Mallory Yarberry, 7th grade; Alakiya Thompson, 7th grade; Sadie Whaley, 8th grade; Abby Myers, 8th grade; Alexia Lams, 8th grade; and Jaterra Early, 8th grade.  The Star City Middle School students are under the instruction of art teacher Jill Moore.

 

Star City High School students with artwork in the exhibit include: Maryann Gossage, 9th grade; Jamie Chen, 9th grade; Kendall Logan, 9th grade; Courtney Malone, 10th grade; Taylor Owen, 10th grade; Sydney Hill, 11th grade; Dakota Hogue, 11th grade; Marly Garrison, 12th grade; Robert Davis, 12th grade; and Emily Patrick, 12th grade. The Star City High School students are under the instruction of art teacher Roger Darren High.

 

“Each of these students have achieved great artistic success by having their artwork hung in a university art gallery,” stated Roger Darren High, Arkansas Art Educator Southeast Regional Director. “This is just a small example of the quality student artwork that is created each year in Star City School District art classes.”

The 2016 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show includes artwork from students in kindergarten through 12th grade in schools in Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Union counties.
