Thirty Star City School District students from Jimmy Brown Elementary School, Star City Middle School, and Star City High School have their artwork included in the 2020 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The art show is sponsored by the Arkansas Art Educators Association.

The exhibit will be on display in the Spencer Gallery at the Fine Arts Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello until March 15. A reception and awards ceremony will be held on Sunday, March 15 at 2 pm. The public is invited to attend.

Jimmy Brown Elementary students who placed in the art show include: Sophia Rowland, 1st Place, Kindergarten; Caden Moore, 2nd Place, 3rd grade; Anna Claire Weast, 1st Place, 4th grade; Allie Earnest, 2nd Place, 5th grade; and Brayden Whitehead, 4th Place, 5th grade.

Other Jimmy Brown Elementary students who have artwork in the regional art show include: Kason Mankin, Kindergarten; Nehemiah Skinner, 1st grade; RaeAnne Wood, 1st grade; Makenzie Irvin, 2nd grade; and Stormee Williams, 2nd grade.

The Jimmy Brown Elementary School students are under the instruction of art teacher Suzi Davis.

Star City Middle School students who placed in the art show include: Kennedy Thompson, 2nd Place 6th grade; Alanah Hughes, 3rd Place 6th grade; Rah’niya West, 3rd Place 7th grade; Emma Kelley, 4th Place 7th grade; and Aubrey-Lynn Conrad, 3rd Place 8th grade.

Other Star City Middle School students who have artwork in the regional art show include: Anna Johnson, 8th grade; Avery Ortego, 8th grade; Jacob Scott, 8th grade; Jaden Sherrill, 8th grade; and Taylor York 8th grade.

The Star City Middle School students are under the instruction of art teacher Jill Moore.

Star City High School students who placed in the art show include: Holden McGee, 2nd Place 9th grade; Arista Wilkerson, 4th Place 11th grade; Alexia Lams, 1st Place 12th grade; and Sadie Whaley, 4th Place 12th grade.

For placing first in the 12th division Alexia Lams will receive one-year tutiton to the University of Arkansas-Monticello.

Other Star City High School students with artwork in the regional art show include: Amanda Magana, 9th grade; Erica Everett, 10th grade; Hanley Lane, 10th grade; Wenzyl Talento, 11th grade; Josie Claire Floyd, 12th grade; and Autumn Tharp, 12th grade.

The Star City High School students are under the instruction of art teacher Roger Darren High.

The 2020 Southeast Arkansas Regional Art Show includes artwork from students in kindergarten through 12th grade in schools in Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Cleveland, Desha, Drew, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Union counties.
