The following is a list of announcements, closures, cancellations and changes around the state that may be of interest to Southeast Arkansas residents:
Arkansas Activities Association
The Arkansas Activities Association has extended the “dead period” for all member schools through May 30.
Dept. of Parks, Heritage and Tourism
The following facilities and services are closed:
Lodges at DeGray Lake Resort, Mount Magazine, Petit Jean, and Queen Wilhelmina state parks.
Group Lodging at Lake Fort Smith, Crowley’s Ridge and Historic Washington state parks
All visitor centers
The Highway 300 Day-Use Area and East Summit Trail Parking Area at Pinnacle Mountain State Park are closed as well as the East Summit Trail, West Summit Trail, Base Trail, Kingfisher Trail and the Little Maumelle Boat Ramp
Cedar Falls and Cedar Falls Overlook Trails at Petit Jean State Park.
At Devil’s Den State Park, the Fossil Flats Mountain Bike Trail and the Woody Plant Trail are closed
Crater of Diamonds State Park diamond search field and Diamond Discovery Center
All park interpretive programming
Restaurants, food is available for takeout only with the exception of Mather Lodge at Petit Jean State Park.
Group Events: Check with the individual park if reservations have been made. Events will be allowed only according to size of group and allowance for social distancing.
Golf Courses: The Ridges at Village Creek at Village Creek State Park is closed. DeGray Lake Resort State Park’s course remains open. The pro shop is only open to accept fees and no clubs will be available to rent.
Museum Parks: Outdoor exhibits and trails remain open. Inside exhibits are closed or limited for viewing.
Marinas: Some are open. Please contact the park directly to find out their status
Day use areas, such trails used for hiking, mountain biking, and wildlife watching.
Restrooms: Visitors are asked to allow for social distancing in these enclosed quarters.
Arkansas Post National Memorial visitor center is closed beginning April 1. The grounds remain open.
Small Business Administration
The U.S. Small Business Administration has made a statewide Disaster Declaration for Arkansas small businesses affected by COVID-19. Businesses located in all counties in Arkansas can apply for assistance at disasterloan.sba.gov/ela.
Arkansas Repertory Theatre: all activities are indefinitely suspended.
Arkansas Shakespeare Theatre: Summer 2020 season canceled
Arkansas State Capitol: March 13, until further notice.
Arlo Guthrie Concert: Walton Arts Center, postponed to October, 4.
Baby Shark Live!: April 19, Simmons Bank Arena, postponed.
Ballet Arkansas: The remainder of the season is cancelled. The Master/Works showcase is postponed. The company is offering free online programming, including a series called “Encore,” screening Ballet Arkansas performances and a new series of online dance classes.
Clinton Center: Most operations suspended through April 30.
Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville is closed until at least April 17.
Garvan Woodland Gardens: Closed until further notice.
Oaklawn Casino: Closed temporarily. Racing to continue without spectators.
Old State House Museum: All events canceled through May 13
Pine Bluff Aquatic Center: Closed through March 31.
Saracen Annex Casino in Pine Bluff: Closed temporarily.
Travis Tritt concert at Little Rock’s Robinson Center: Rescheduled for June 3
Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge: Closed to the general public until further notice.
Walton Arts Center: All performances and events suspended through May 9.
