Stephen James, 84, of Monticello, passed away on March, 31, 2020 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello.
He was born June 12, 1935, in Silsbee, Texas to the late Carl and Anna Lou James.
Mr. James was was retired from Potlatch-Clearwater Paper where he worked as a pulp mill superintendent. He was a devoted member of Immanuel Baptist Church. He was a story-teller. He loved with all of his heart. He had a personality bigger than life, and was a natural born leader. Most important of all he was a loving, devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother.
He was proceeded in death by his wife of 62 years, Dora “Penny” James, his parents, and one brother, Paul James.
Survivors include his two daughters, Tammy Sullivan and husband Steve and Rhonda Findley all of Monticello; four sisters, Diane Creekmore, Bonnie Cone, Portland Griffith, and Debra Rollins, all of Texas, one brother, Joe James, seven grandchildren, Jason Barnes and wife Paige, Jeremy Montgomery and wife Katie, Michael Findley, Toni McFerrin and husband Collin, Stephen Findley, Jenni Taylor and husband Aaron, and Ashley Taylor and husband Jesse; eleven great-grandchildren, Alora, Brook, Jalyn, Avery, Kade, Jake, Jon Allen, Morgan, Liam, Chason, and Jon Collin an expected one due in July, Jackson Danger.
A private graveside service will be held on April 1 at Oakland Cemetery in Monticello.
