Stephens Lavan Tanner, 79, of Dumas passed away on February 10, 2018 in Dumas.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in Dumas and a retired farmer. He served in the Navy from 1955-1959.

Mr. Tanner was born on February 27, 1938 in Casa, Arkansas and was the son of the late Archie and Anna Ruth Fox Tanner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by twin daughters, and two sisters, Rachel Rice and Emma Laura Cooper.

Survivors are his wife, Syble Tanner; two daughters, Larell Jones of Backgate and Jennifer Farmer (Mark) of Dumas; a sister, Barbara Nichols of McGehee; four grandchildren, Neil Lenderman, Brad and Ty Farmer and Kala Jones; and a great grandchild: Amy Lenderman.

Visitation will be held on Monday, February 12, from noon until 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Dumas, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the church with Rev. Leonard Ricketts officiating. Burial will be at Walnut Lake Cemetery.
