Steve Skender, 89, of Hamburg, died on January 7, 2018 at the Ashley County Medical Center in Crossett.
Mr. Skender was a truck driver and a veteran of the United States Army who served during the Korean Conflict. He was of the a Catholic, member of the Skender Hunting Club, and an avid hunter and fisherman.
He wass preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Georgia Ann Tanksley Skender in 2010; a daughter-in-law, Nicky Lee Skender; his father, Frank Charles Skender; his mother and step-father, Margaret Byght and Blaz Lipovac; three brothers, John, Matt and Frank Skender and three sisters, Pauline Barnette, Mary Gee and Vennie Herlevic.
He is survived by two daughters, Lynn Skender of Crossett and Hollie Pearson and husband, John, of Hamburg; two sons, Tony Skender and Shane Skender both of Hamburg; 11 grandchildren, Nicole “Nikki” Vargas, Angela “Angie” Holland, Caleb Skender, Bryce Skender, Carson Skender, Parker Skender, Cody Pearson, Colton Pearson, Cierra Pearson, William Pearson and Johnna Mae Pearson, six great-grandchildren, Alexia, Rod, Jaisley, Celest, Brent and Nathan and a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 10 at 10 a.m. at the Hogue Cemetery with Bro. Danny Merriweather officiating. Visitation is Tuesday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home in Hamburg.
Honorary pallbearers are John Gee, Parker Skender, Jacob Baker, William Pearson, Bryce Skender, Caleb Skender, Brent Holland, Trapper Holland, Rod Vazquez, Justin Skender, Gene Thompson, Austin McKoin, Dan Allison, BoBo Hubbard and Dennis King.
