Dr. Kate Stewart, professor of English at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, was invited to make a formal presentation to the 27th annual conference of the American Literature Association held recently in San Francisco.
The American Literature Association is a coalition of societies devoted to the study of American authors.
In her presentation, Stewart presented an overview of her paper on 19th century newspaper columnist and novelist Fanny Fern.
Stewart has been a member of the UAM faculty since 1988. She holds a bachelor of arts, master of arts, and Ph.D. in English from the University of Mississippi.
She has been published extensively in books, journals and scholarly publications and is a regular presenter to the Mississippi Philological Association, the Arkansas Philological Association, and the Louisiana Philological Association. She is also the long-time sponsor of the UAM chapter of Alpha Chi, the national collegiate honor society.
