A Mountain View couple traveling through Ashley County from Louisiana in October was charged Tuesday with child endangerment and drug offenses, according to a criminal information filed in Ashley County Circuit Court.

Christopher Cole Bonnett, 34, and Heather D. Creasy, 36, were charged possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and first-degree child endangerment stemming from a traffic stop in October.

An Ashley County deputy, after pulling the couple over for speeding, said the driver, Bonnett, who did not have a driver’s license, appeared to be nervous and appeared to be having uncontrollable muscle twitches, according to the deputy’s incident report.

The deputy said he requested and received permission to search the Bonnett vehicle where he allegedly found a vial containing four ziplock baggies in the couple’s 2-year-old daughter’s diaper bag. The baggies, according to the deputy, contained a crystalized substance that he believed to be meth.

The deputy said he also found two straws cut in half with a residue inside the straws. All of the items have been sent to the state Crime Lab for analysis.

Following Bonnett and Creasy’s arrest, their children were placed in Department of Human Services custody.
