Two Monticello men and a Monticello woman have been arrested in connection with a Saturday night aggravated robbery in Monticello, according to Monticello Police Chief Eddy Deaton.

The suspects are Willie Payne, 29, Demarius Blanks, 20, and Jessica Dodson, 19, all of Monticello. Payne recently moved to Monticello from California.

Around 10 p.m. Saturday, the alleged victim, whose name was not disclosed in a news release, called the Monticello Police Department saying he had been robbed at gunpoint at his home on East Oakland Street.

The alleged victim told police two men entered his home and robbed him at gunpoint. One of the suspects, he said, dragged him outside and one gunshot was fired into his car window. A small amount of money was taken and the suspects left the scene, according to Deaton.

The alleged victim, who knew the suspects, then got into his vehicle and chased them, but lost sight of them on Main Street.

A few hours later, a Drew County deputy made a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle on U.S. 425 North, near Cablevision. When the car pulled over, one person exited the vehicle and ran into a nearby wooded area. Several police units arrived and began a search for the suspect, according to Deaton.

Two of the car’s occupants — one of the men suspected in the robbery and a female — were arrested and taken to the police department for questioning.

Meanwhile, the Arkansas Department of Corrections K-9 tracking team was called to assist in the search of the other suspect. Shortly thereafter, the final suspect was arrested in a wooded area by the Monticello Criminal Apprehension and Response Team, Deaton said.

Payne’s bond was set at $750,000, Dodson’s bond was set at $150,000, and Blanks’ bond was set at $20,000.
