Three Cotton Blossoms have been inducted into Alpha Chi Honor Society for their academic achievement. Vikki Crisco, Christina Jacinto, and Maggie Sands were inducted into the prestigious organization back on November 8th in a small on-campus ceremony. Sponsoring them was UAM softball coach Alvy Early.

Alpha Chi is a national honor society which invites only the top 10 percent of juniors and seniors at each member institution. The organization currently has over 11,000 members nationwide across 300 campuses.

Crisco is a senior Exercise Science major and student assistant on the volleyball team. The Fort Worth, Texas native has posted a cumulative 3.70 grade point average as of the Spring semester.

Jacinto just completed her senior season as a defensive specialist on the volleyball team. A native of San Antonio, Texas, Jacinto is also an Exercise Science major with a cumulative 3.79 grade point average as of the Spring semester.

Sands is a junior Exercise Science major and a catcher for the softball team. The Ferris, Texas native has a cumulative grade point average of 3.75 as of the Spring semester.

Athletic Director Chris Ratcliff said he is proud of the women’s achievements.

“I want to congratulate all three of them,” Ratcliff said. “It is a prestigious honor for any student to be inducted into Alpha Chi, but for Vikki, Christina, and Maggie to accomplish it while balancing a full athletic schedule is doubly so. They are true examples of what it means to be a student-athlete.”
