Timothy Lee Maples, 22, of Star City died on March 6, 2016.
He was a member of Pine Hill Free Will Baptist Church. Timothy joined the United States Army on January 19, 2013 and attended boot camp at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He underwent combat training in Germany and was later stationed at Fort Stewart in Savanna, Georgia. While attending Star City High School, where he graduated in 2012, Timothy was the reporter for the FFA.
Mr. Maples was born on November 13, 1993 in Monticello and was the son of Jimmy and Sadie Dunegan Maples.
Preceding him death was his grandfather, Jerry Maples.
Survivors include his parents, Jimmy and Sadie Maples of Star City; two brothers, Branden Buck and Mathew Maples; a sister, Noel McCool; a niece, Georgia-Mae’ McCool; a nephew, Gabriel McCool, all of Star City; grandparents, Anna Maples of Star City and Vina Dunegan of Ceres, California; great friends, Brad Milburn, Savanna High and Mikayla Moralas; and numerous aunts, uncles, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on March 14, at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Star City.
