Tom Lee Rayder, beloved son of Ruby and Richard Rayder (both deceased), passed away peacefully in his sleep, with his cell phone right beside him, on August 6, 2021.
Although plagued with multiple health issues from birth, his death was unexpected and was probably from a heart attack. He was 60 years old. We will greatly miss him and his sweet smile.
Our mother, Ruby, wasn’t aware she was pregnant with Tom Lee when she was exposed to x-rays. This resulted in many extra challenges for Tom Lee, but he never whined or complained. He just moved forward the best he knew how.
Growing up on the family farm in Lake Village, he worked alongside dad the same as all of his siblings. Richard, our dad, even taught Tom how to weld and Tom went on to welding school after graduating from Bellaire Academy in 1980.
Tom was always open to making friends with anyone who would give him a chance. He was blessed to live in a community where many wonderful people gave him support and assistance. You sweet people know who you are, and we are more grateful than can be expressed.
We, his family of five siblings, Ardith Hubbard, Jo Ann (John) Okerson, Kathi ( Robert) Mazzanti, Nancy (Pete) Smith, Michael (Kim) Rayder, and all his many nieces, nephews, and cousins invite you to celebrate Tom Lee’s life at the Chicot Missionary Baptist Church at 744 Lake Hall Road, Lake Village, at 2 p.m. on September 4, 2021. Pastor David Powers will officiate. Visitation to follow the service with light refreshments being served.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to either Chicot Missionary Baptist Church or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, TN 38105.
