10. Traffic Fatalities

Nearly 20 people were killed in 2012 in more than a dozen traffic accidents in Southeast Arkansas.

In January, a Hot Springs couple was killed in an accident on U.S. 65 in Chicot County.

In February, a Hamburg High School student was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 160 in Ashley County.

In March, two young Louisiana men fighting in the roadway of Highway 82, east of Lake Village, were killed when they were struck by an 18-wheel truck.

In May, a burglary suspect fleeing police was killed in accident at Wilmar. Also in May, an Ashley County man was killed in an ATV accident in Hamburg.

In June, a McGehee pedestrian was killed when he was struck by a jeep on U.S. 65. Also in June, a Bradley County man was killed when his truck struck a tree and overturned.

In August, a member of the Rison football team was killed in a head-on collision near Rison.

In October, two people were killed in a 2-vehicle crash east of Hamburg. Also in October, a Bradley County woman was killed in a 6-vehicle accident on U.S. 278 at Wilmar.

In November, a Crossett woman died of injuries she sustained in a 2-vehicle accident on Highway 133 in Crossett. Also in November, a Rison man was killed when his vehicle was struck by a Mack truck in Cleveland County.

In December, a Hamburg man was killed in a one-vehicle accident on Highway 8 in Parkdale. Also in December, a Fordyce man was killed when his 2005 Peterbilt struck a telephone pole in McGehee. The same month, a Dumas couple was killed when their vehicle was struck by a train in Desha County.
