Trial dates have been set for Kenneth Earl Moore, a 40-year-old Ashley County man charged with raping two young female relatives, impregnating one.
Moore, of Portland, is alleged to have had sexual intercourse in late 2012 with a 14-year-old relative. The girl subsequently gave birth and a paternity test determined that Moore is the father of that child, according to a State Crime Lab report.
“The probability of paternity is 99.99 percent,” Forensic DNA examiner Kelli Dixon wrote in the report.
Moore is also charged with raping a 13-year-old female relative in early 2013.
He is scheduled to be tried the week of April 15 for the alleged rape of the younger girl. His trial for the alleged rape of the older girl is set for the week of May 20.
Both trials will take place in Ashley County Circuit Court at Hamburg with Judge Sam Pope presiding. If convicted, Moore faces 10 to 40 years or life in prison for each count.
