Two Monticello men have been arrested in connection with a Saturday afternoon parking issue that escalated to a nonfatal shooting, according to Monticello Police Chief Eddy Deaton.
Adrian Hansburg, 24, and Dequan Martin, 21, are suspected of first-degree battery, unlawful discharge of a firearm and several misdemeanor charges. Hansburg is being held on a $75,000 bond, plus a $5,000 cash bond, while Martin, formerly of Chicago, is being held on a $50,000 bond.
Following an argument about a parking issue on East Jackson Street in Monticello, Hansburg and Martin drove to Merrydale Lane where Hansburg is alleged to have fired a shotgun. Pellets from the shotgun struck Sidney Collins (age unavailable) of Monticello in the arm, according to Deaton.
Deaton said Collins was taken by a friend to Drew Memorial Hospital where he was treated and released.
