Dr. Jodi Barnes, the new station archeologist at University of Arkansas-Monticello, will be the guest speaker of the Tunican Chapter of the Arkansas Archeological Society at UAM on April 2. Barnes will talk about her research on the archeology of African American life in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and the South Carolina lowcountry and outline plans for future projects in Southeast Arkansas.
“This is an excellent opportunity to get to know our new archeologist and hear first hand what is in store for the University of Arkansas-Monticello’s nstation,” said Hope Bragg, editor of the Tunican newsletter.
The April 2 meeting opens with a business meeting starting at 7 p.m., followed Barnes’ presentation.
The program will be held in the Forestry Conference Room on the University of Arkansas at Monticello campus. The meeting is open to anyone interested in archeology.
