The University of Arkansas-Monticello baseball team earned the No. 5 seed in the 2019 NCAA Division II Central I Region Tournament, NCAA announced Sunday night.

UAM (33-14) will face the No. 4 seed Minnesota State (39-13) on Thursday, May 16, at Augustana University in Sioux Fall, South Dakota. UAM and Minnesota State met earlier this year in UAM’s season-opening series in Monticello. Minnesota State won two of the three contests.

UAM earned a tournament bid after finishing as the Great American Conference regular season champion and third in the GAC Tournament.

The winner of Thursday’s game will face the winner of Augustana and Oklahoma Baptist. The losing team will drop into the losers’ side of the bracket and face the losing team from the Augustana and Oklahoma Baptist matchup in an elimination game on Friday.

The winner of each region will advance to the D2 Super Regionals on May 24-25 where the higher seeded team will host a best-of-three game series for a chance to go to the D2 College World Series in Cary, N.C. on June 1-8.
