The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team received five votes in the latest NCAA Division II – NABC Coaches Poll after improving its overall record last week to 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the Great American Conference.
The Weevils defeated both Southwestern Oklahoma State and Northwestern Oklahoma State on the road to not only receive national votes in the coaches poll, but are currently ranked seventh overall in the central region in the latest Division II Central Region Men’s Basketball Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA.
Arkansas-Monticello currently sits at the top of the GAC as the only remaining undefeated team within the conference. UAM also has had three straight GAC Players of the Week selected which included juniors Derylton Hill (2) and Karim Mawuenyega.
“This is obviously a huge accomplishment for our program to receive votes in the NABC poll and earn recognition in regional rankings,” said UAM head basketball coach Kyle Tolin. “We are getting better and hope we continue this success for our program.”
UAM will look to continue its winning ways this Saturday, December 10 as Arkansas-Monticello will host the Patriots of Baptist Bible College in a non-conference match-up inside Steelman Field House with tip-off set for 4 p.m.
