The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team won a Great American Conference series, 2-1, against No. 6 Henderson State University this weekend at Weevils Field in Monticello.

UAM (5-10, 3-6 GAC) won the series opener, 9-8, on Friday before splitting Saturday’s twin bill.

Henderson (15-2, 7-2 GAC) evened the series in the first game of the Saturday afternoon doubleheader, 11-5, but the Weevils took the series in the finale.

The finale was scoreless until the bottom of the tenth inning when UAM infielder and GAC career home run record holder Jordan Johnson hit a 2 RBI home run, giving UAM the 2-0 win and capturing the series, 2-1.

The Weevils will be on the road Tuesday when they play the University of Texas at Tyler. The game is set to begin at 4 p.m.

UPDATE (March 8):

UAM’s Tuesday afternoon game against the University of Texas at Tyler has been cancelled due to forecasted weather.

UAM and UTT will not make up the contest. Instead, UAM turns its attention to its upcoming Great American Conference road series this weekend against Arkansas Tech University.

The Weevils and Wonder Boys are set for a three-game series in Russellville. The first game is scheduled for Saturday at 3 p.m. The series doubleheader is set for Sunday at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
