Judy Shipp and Jordan Rivera

Judy Shipp, an adjunct faculty member on the Warren campus of the UAM College of Technology-McGehee was recently selected as “Teacher of the Year” by The Honors College of Henderson State University.

The award was presented as part of a gathering of top high school juniors from across Arkansas.  As part of the application process, each student was asked to write an essay recommending someone for the Teacher of the Year Award.  Jordan Rivera, a junior at Warren High School, submitted as essay recommending Shipp for the honor. Inaddition to teaching at UAM-CTM, Shipp teaches computer and business technology at the Southeast Arkansas Community-Based Education Center in Warren.

The essays were reviewed by Henderson’s Honors College and Shipp was selected for the honor out of 100 teachers nominated, according to Dr. David Thomson, director of The Honors College.

Shipp is a 1990 UAM graduate with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. She earned a master of arts in teaching degree, also from UAM, in 2005.
