Arkansas-Monticello held a 7-0 lead through six innings Sunday at Weevils Field but ultimately dropped the series finale against Southwestern Oklahoma State, 10-8.

Southwestern Oklahoma State scored three runs in the seventh, two runs in the eighth, and five runs in the top of the ninth to tie the game and two more in the 10th to win it.

The Weevils (3-5, 1-2 GAC) were the first to score, posting two runs in the bottom of the third. The rally started with a Grant Shepherd double down the right field line. He would eventually score on a Jordan Johnson ground ball. Cade Thompson would score on a Reece Reading single to right field.

The bottom of the fifth inning was a ferocious display of offense as UAM put five runs on the board. The inning began with a double down the left fiend line from Trevor Rugg; he would score on a single from Cade Thompson. Grant Shepherd would run across the second run of the inning off a Hudson Hopkins ground out. Cade Thompson, Jordan Johnson, and Reece Reading would all score off of a handful of walks. The Weevils would come out of the inning with a 7-0 lead on the Bulldogs.

UAM used five different pitchers in the game. Mason Philley started on the mound, pitching 6.1 innings allowing three runs on four hits. The left-hander stuck out two batters and had five walks. Defensively, the Weevils put three errors on the board behind him.

Trent Bunting entered the game in the top of the sixth, tallying 1.2 innings pitched with two runs allowed on one hit. He struck out three batters and had two walks.

Charles Peacock pitched 0.0 innings, allowing three runs on a single hit and one walk, taking the loss.

Rigell Robinson tallied 0.1 innings pitched, allowing two runs on one hit and two walks.

Jacob McDaniel closed the game, entering in the bottom of the ninth. He pitched 0.1 innings, allowing no runs and no hits.

Arkansas-Monticello returns to Weevils Field on Tuesday afternoon for a match-up with Union University. The game is set to start at 2 p.m.
