University of Arkansas-Monticello shortstop Dylan Borman hit a game-winning grand slam in the second game of a doubleheader at home on Saturday to defeat Arkansas Tech 10-6 and secure the 2019 Great American Conference regular season title.

In the first game of the doubleheader, UAM (28-11, 22-5 GAC) had 19 hits, including two home runs and two doubles, in the 13-11 win over the Wonderboys (27-18, 19-10 GAC).

Third baseman Jordan Johnson had two doubles and two RBI, first baseman Kaleb Warden had a home run and three RBI, and catcher Andrew Piraino had a home run and an RBI. Pitcher Matt Lundh (6-0) earned the win for the Weevils.

In the second game, UAM had nine hits including two home runs, Borman’s grand slam and Brodie Threet’s 2-run homerun in the second inning. Pitcher Peyton Sullivan (4-3) got the win for the Weevils. Also getting extra base hits were Piraino, David Reyna, and John Mauldin. Piraino had a double and 2 RBI, Reyna had two doubles and a RBI, and Mauldin had a double.

The Weevils will be on the road Tuesday taking on Arkansas Tech again. The game, originally scheduled for 6 p.m., has been changed to 3 p.m.
