The University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team took down Arkansas Tech, 5-2, on the road Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match-up.

Arkansas-Monticello (15-10) got onto the board first in the top of the third inning after a Sean Wagner single up the middle brought in two runs to the Weevil advantage.

Despite allowing one run in the fourth, UAM responded with a Brian Ray RBI single to left, and Brady Weiss drew a bases loaded walk to increase the UAM lead out to 4-1.

Arkansas Tech (16-11) added a run in the bottom half of the inning, but Weiss’ ninth inning solo home-run to right field was enough to secure the win for the Weevils.

Jared Libke started on the the mound for UAM throwing 4.0 innings allowing two hits, one earned run, and struck out three.

Michael Harrison was credited with his first win of the season throwing 1.0 inning after Libke, finishing with a strikeout.

Drake Streeter earned his first save of the year throwing 0.2 inning in the bottom of the ninth, allowing one walk, and striking out one.

Senior Nick Piraino recorded a three hit day in the game as well going 3-for-5 with one run scored, and one stolen base.

UAM travels to Weatherford, Oklahoma this weekend to square off against Southwestern Oklahoma State in a three-game GAC series. The first pitch in game one is set for Friday at 2 p.m.
