University of Arkansas at Monticello golfers Lauren Johnson and Frida Rydberg have been selected to compete in the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships.

Both Johnson and Rydberg qualified as individuals for the Central Region Championship Tournament, which will be played May 2-4 at the Awarii Dunes Golf Course in Axtell, Nebraska with the University of Nebraska Kearney serving as the host. This is the first time in school history to have national tournament qualifiers in women’s golf.

Johnson, a junior from Dewitt, recently earned her second straight All-Great American Conference honor, and is currently tied for 11th at the GAC Championships, which conclude today at the Hot Springs Country Club.

Rydberg, a sophomore from Jarfalla, Sweden, also earned her second consecutive All-GAC honor this year, and is tied for sixth heading into the final day of the GAC championships.

Each region consists of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with 12 teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams at each site. The top three teams and top three individuals not associated with a qualifying team will advance to the national championship tournament, which is scheduled for May 18-21 at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado.
