University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s golfers Frida Rydberg and Lauren Johnson just wrapped up the 2015-16 season with a trip to the NCAA Regional Championship Tournament held at the Awarii Dunes Golf Club this week.
Competing as individuals in the 66-participant tournament, Rydberg finished in a tie for 44th place, while Johnson tied for 56th.
Rydberg, a sophomore from Jarfalla, Sweden, posted scores of 82, 75 and 79. Johnson, a junior from DeWitt, Arkansas, carded scores of 85, 76 and 80.
Augustana was the top team at the event with a three-round score of 881, followed by Northeastern State (882), Arkansas Tech (899), Missouri Western (889), Central Oklahoma (901), Concordia-St. Paul (902), Henderson State (918), Southwestern Oklahoma State (924), Minnesota State (926), Lindenwood (942), Upper Iowa (944) and Central Missouri (951).
The top individual was Augustana’s Kali Trautman with a three-round total of 217. She won a three-hole playoff with Northeastern State’s Kayla Schroeder.
Rydberg and Johnson were both All-Great American Conference selections for the second consecutive year, and both will be back for the 2016-17 season.
