Less than a month away from the first event of the spring portion of the 2015-16 schedule, the University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s golf team has been picked to finish seventh in the Great American Conference in the preseason coaches poll.
The Weevils participated in four events during the fall semester, highlighted by a third place finish out of eight teams at the Union Fall Classic.
UAM is a senior-laden team, led by Hunter Smith and Theodor Karlsson, who earned All-GAC honors last season. True freshman Kinley Lee led the Weevils in two events during the fall schedule and finished with nine total rounds under 80.
The spring schedule begins on Saturday, February 27 in a dual match with GAC rival Southern Arkansas at Mystic Creek Country Club. The Weevils will also compete in Arkansas Tech’s Dave Falconer Classic, Christian Brothers’ Buccaneer Classic, Henderson State’s Bear State Bank Invitational and Harding’s Natural State Classic.
The 2016 GAC Championships are scheduled for April 23-26 at the Hot Springs Country Club. UAM turned in its best all-time finish in last year’s conference tournament at fourth place.
