The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s golf team has been picked to finish seventh in the Great American Conference preseason coaches poll, released last Wednesday.
The Weevils partcipated in five tournaments during the Fall semester, finishing as high as third on two different occasions. UAM tied for third out of eight teams at the Union Fall Classic followed by a third place finish out of nine teams at the Buccaneer Classic.
Individually, Hunter Smith was the GAC’s Golfer of the Month for October and rounded out the Fall with four top 10 finishes. Teammate Ari Magnusson opened the fall with three consecutive top 10 finishes.
UAM opens the Spring portion of the schedule on Sunday, March 1 with a dual against Southern Arkansas at Harbor Oaks in Pine Bluff. Counting that dual, the Weevils have six events on the Spring schedule. The GAC Championships will once again be held at the Hot Springs Country Club April 19-21.
Arkansas Tech earned the top spot in the preseason coaches poll and had five first place votes. Southwestern Oklahoma State and Henderson State also received first place votes.
