The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team is ranked No. 16 in the latest NCAA Division II – NABC Coaches Poll after improving its overall record last week to 12-0 on the year.

UAM took down Great American Conference opponents Harding University and Henderson State last week to earn its 11th and 12th straight victories, and UAM is also ranked second overall in the Division II Central Region Men’s Basketball Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA. The last time UAM men’s basketball was ranked in the top 25 was during the 2008-09 season as the Weevils reached as high as No. 5 over the course of the year.

UAM currently sits at the top of the GAC as the only remaining undefeated team within the conference, and just one of six remaining undefeated teams in the nation in NCAA Division II. UAM also recorded its 13th straight win on the year Monday, as the Weevils defeated rival Southern Arkansas on the road, 96-87.

“We had a very good week and hopefully can continue to get better and keep this going,” head men’s basketball coach Kyle Tolin said. “I’m proud of our team and their continued effort to get better. It’s nice to be recognized nationally and move up six places in the poll this week.”

The Weevils will will play Ouachita Baptist University in a road game on Thursday with tip-off scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
