[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Following a series win over Southern Arkansas this past weekend in the regular season finale, the University of Arkansas at Monticello baseball team has moved up one spot to No. 3 in this week’s NCAA South Central Regional Rankings.
The Weevils (33-13) now rank behind Arkansas Tech (41-8), which held on to the top spot after extending its streak to 22 consecutive victories over the past week. Minnesota State-Mankato (36-7), representing the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, also moved up one spot to No. 2 this week.
Southern Arkansas (34-16) checks in at No. 4 this week, followed by Emporia State (31-10) at No. 5, St. Cloud State (31-10) at No. 6, Central Missouri (35-14) at No. 7 and Augustana (33-14) at No. 8. The Great American Conference and NSIC each have three teams represented in this week’s poll. The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association has two teams ranked this week.
Following the conclusion of all conference tournaments, the top six teams of each region move on to the regional tournaments, usually hosted by the top-ranked team of each region.
In terms of national rankings, the Weevils are as high as No. 17 this week in the Perfect Game Top 25, formerly known as College Baseball Lineup. UAM ranks No. 29 by D2BaseballNews.com and receives votes in the Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association national polls.
