The School of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Arkansas at Monticello will lead a four-day celebration of Arbor Day on the UAM campus March 30 through April 2, according to Chris Stuhlinger, university forester.

UAM students will mulch approximately 100 trees on campus as a student services project and the Student Government Association will put up 15 to 20 small signs next to trees with informational messages about Arbor Day and the benefits of trees.

Other activities include a Quiz Bowl about Arbor Day and trees, a scavenger hunt for students, and a community-wide Arbor Day ceremony and cook-out on the UAM campus with members of the Monticello Tree Board and fourth grade students from nearby elementary schools. The ceremony will include Monticello Tree City USA and UAM Tree Campus USA presentations.
