The University of Arkansas at Monticello men’s basketball team is ranked No. 22 in the nation in the latest NCAA Division II – NABC Coaches Poll after improving its overall record last week to 10-0.

The Weevils defeated Great American Conference opponents Southern Nazarene and Oklahoma Baptist at home to earn its tenth straight victory. UAM is also currently ranked third overall in the central region in the Division II Central Region Men’s Basketball Poll, sponsored by D2SIDA. The last time UAM men’s basketball was ranked in the top 25 was during the 2008-09 season when the Weevils reached as high as No. 5 over the course of the year.

UAM currently sits at the top of the GAC as the only remaining undefeated team within the conference, and just one of six remaining undefeated teams in the nation in NCAA Division II. UAM also has also notched four GAC Players of the Week this season which includes, juniors Derylton Hill (3) and Karim Mawuenyega.

“This is really neat for our program,” said head coach Kyle Tolin. “Our guys have worked hard for this recognition and to be only one of six remaining undefeated NCAA Division II teams. We understand that there is still a long ways to go in the season, but is neat for our kids to be rewarded so far with the way they have played.”

Arkansas-Monticello will host the Bisons of Harding University on January 12 in a GAC match-up inside Steelman Field House with tip-off set for 7:30 p.m.
