The University of Arkansas-Monticello split a double-header Saturday in a 3-game series with Southwestern Oklahoma State University.

UAM (3-4) was shut out 11-0 in the first game of the double-header but won the second game 12-4. They will finish up the series Sunday at noon.

The Weevils struggled to put the ball into play in the first game. They had only two hits, doubles from Hudson Hopkins and Clay Lockett.

Derek Potts started on the mound for the Weevils, pitching 6.1 innings, with four strikeouts and allowing five runs off four hits and six walks. Jacob McDaniel entered the game in sixth, pitching .2 innings. Jack Barna came into the game as the final pitcher. He pitched two innings allowing four hits.

In the second game, Jordan Johnson tied the Great American Conference career home run record of 42. Johnson hit two home runs and went 3-for-4 with three RBI. Catcher Nick Fakouri went 3-for-3 with a double, two RBI, and scored two runs. Cade Thompson went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI, BJ Lee had a home run and two RBI, and Grant Shepherd had a solo home run.

Spencer Johnston pitched the second game for UAM, striking out two and allowing four runs on seven hits.
