Gregoria Garcia of Monticello, a junior criminal justice student at the University of Arkansas at Monticello, has been chosen as a Student Track Scholar by the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) to attend the organization’s annual conference in Chicago, Ill., October 26-28.
HACU’s annual conference provides a forum for the sharing of information and ideas for the best and most promising practices in the education of Hispanics. An advocate of immigration law reform, Garcia is currently conducting supervised research regarding the admission of undocumented students to colleges and universities both in Arkansas and nationwide.
Garcia was previously chosen as a national scholarship recipient for the American Association of University Women (AAUW)’s 2013 National Conference for College Women Student Leaders at the University of Maryland-College Park. She is currently a UAM Alumni Delegate and a member of Delta Zeta Epsilon, the UAM Law & Justice Society, Keep A Child Alive and Alpha Phi Sigma.
