The University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s golf team has been picked to finish fifth in the Great American Conference preseason coaches poll, announced last Wednesday.
The Blossoms participated in five tournaments during the Fall semester and picked up the program’s first ever team win with a top finish at the Buccaneer Classic. The team also finished second out of seven teams at the Union Fall Classic and third out of six teams at the Commercial Bank Classic.
Individually, Lauren Johnson, the individual winner at the Buc Classic, had four top 10 finishes in the Fall and was a nominee for the GAC’s October Golfer of the Month award.
UAM opens its Spring schedule February 23-24 at the St. Edwards Invitational in Austin, Texas. Counting that tournament, the Blossoms have six events on the Spring schedule. The GAC Championships will be back at Hot Springs Country Club for the fourth consecutive season, April 19-21.
Arkansas Tech was picked as the preseason favorite with seven first place votes. Henderson State and Southwestern Oklahoma State also received first place votes.
