golfThe University of Arkansas at Monticello women’s golf team began its 2017 spring season Monday at the 2-day Diffee Ford Lincoln Invitational in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Senior Lauren Johnson led Arkansas-Monticello as she finished the invitational shooting a 77 on day one and finished up day two shooting an 74 for a 151 total score. Johnson placed in a tie for seventh overall in the tournament.

Junior Frida Rydberg (82, 76) finished in a tie for 23rd in the competition, while junior Brianna Dickerson (86, 76) finished tied for 38th overall. Freshman Belle Tan (81, 86) placed in a tie for 56th, and finally Leah Rowe (93, 85) finished in a tie for 73rd.

Central Oklahoma was the number one team in the event out of 13 total teams, with a two-round score of 605, followed by Southwestern Oklahoma State at 608 and then Henderson State in third with a score of 611. UAM finished as a team in eighth overall with a two-round score of 637.

The Blossoms will be back in action next on April 3-4 as they travel to Mountain Home, Arkansas to compete in the Southern Bancorp Invitational hosted by Henderson State University.
