The University of Arkansas at Monticello football team will be sporting a new look for the 2012 season.
Head coach Hud Jackson has unveiled the new uniforms featuring an all-green color scheme for home games and an all-white color scheme for games played away from the friendly confines of Willis “Convoy” Leslie Cotton Boll Stadium.
The first chance to see the new uniforms in person is Saturday, September 1, when the Boll Weevils are scheduled to host College of Faith for a 6 p.m. kickoff. It will be the season opener for both teams. UAM has 11 games scheduled for the 2012 campaign, six of which are at home.
Jackson plans to wear the all-green uniforms at all six home games. UAM wore all-white uniforms for multiple home games during the 2011 season.
“This has been a consistent topic of conversation between myself and our supporters since I came to UAM two Decembers ago,” said Jackson. “Our new uniforms are very modern, but still have a classic feel to them as well. It’s a great balance… There has already been a lot of excitement over the new look since they arrived and have been on display in the lobby of our indoor facility… We are very proud of the look, and I know our players that were involved in the selection process like the overall fit of them as well.”
Jackson and his staff, along with players were responsible for the design of the new uniforms. The final product was approved by a leadership council that included coaches, two seniors, two juniors and two sophomores.
In addition to football, all UAM athletic teams will be joining together to create a consistent look, according to Director of Athletics Chris Ratcliff.
“The new look for our football program brings back the true identity of UAM Athletics,” said Ratcliff. “Kelly green and white have always been the school’s official colors, and we are making an effort to create a more consistent uniform style across the board to really match our brand as an athletics department. These new uniforms are very eye-appealing and will be something our student-athletes, coaches and fans can really take pride in.”
Modeling the new football uniforms is redshirt freshman quarterback Hunter Leppert (Minden, La. – No. 9) and senior linebacker Greg Wilson (College Park, Ga. – No. 1).
