Scottie Pippen, the Hamburg native who played basketball at the University of Central Arkansas before becoming one of the most successful NBA players of all time, was honored Monday at UCA with the naming of the basketball court at the Farris Center in his honor.
Pippen’s name and signature was unveiled on Scottie Pippen Court Monday morning at a ceremony prior to the start of the 2021 Scottie Pippen Basketball Camp.
As a freshman at UCA, Pippen was a non-scholarship player who received financial aid for being the team manager. He left as a two-time NAIA All-American and selected fifth in the 1987 NBA Draft. He played 17 years in the NBA, winning six championships with the Chicago Bulls. He also won two Olympic gold medals playing for the U.S. men’s basketball team.
